Ethical Wildlife Travel: How Tentasy Does It
Ethical wildlife travel means seeing animals without changing how they live: small groups, quiet vehicles, guides who put the animal first and trips that give something back to the forest. Tentasy runs naturalist-led safaris across 15+ reserves in India and Sri Lanka on that principle.

What ethical wildlife travel means to us
It means the animal comes first. Our trips are built around the wildlife rather than a packed bus schedule, with itineraries that follow the forest, not the clock. You pay for ethics, expertise and intimacy: small groups, certified naturalist guides and a personal photographer on every trip.
Our field code
- Small groups by design: most trips run with 4 to 6 guests, occasionally up to 8 for larger overlanding circuits.
- Zero-disturbance sighting protocols: quiet vehicles, no chasing and no baiting.
- Your naturalist decides how close to go and when to leave a sighting.
- Guests follow simple rules on clothing, scent and noise.
Naturalist-led, always
Every expedition is led by certified naturalists, not driver-guides. Our lead naturalist, Surya Veloor Sundar, has 12+ years across South Indian forests. Meet the full team on our about page.
Conservation work with the Karnataka Forest Department
Our team are certified volunteers for the Karnataka Forest Department's camera-trapping and census work. For how this shapes our trips, read our responsible wildlife tourism page.

Ethical wildlife travel FAQ
What makes a wildlife safari ethical?
Small groups, quiet vehicles, no baiting or chasing and a naturalist who decides how close to go. The animal's wellbeing comes before the photograph.
How big are Tentasy groups?

Do you guarantee tiger sightings?
No. Wild animals cannot be guaranteed. Small groups and patient naturalist-led tracking give you the best chance.
Who guides the trips?
Certified naturalists, wildlife photographers with 12+ years of field experience, PADI Divemasters for marine trips and ex-military outdoor trainers for expeditions.
Does Tentasy work with schools?
Yes. We run eco-tourism workshops, leadership expeditions and photography programmes for schools and colleges.
