Tiger safaris in India: where we go

India's tiger reserves are very different from one another. Karnataka offers elephants and leopards among dry and moist deciduous forest, central India has the classic sal and bamboo forests of the tiger, Rajasthan has tigers among ruins and lakes, Gujarat has the Asiatic lion and Assam has the one-horned rhino. We run trips in all of them.

Karnataka parks

Bandipur, Nagarhole (Nagarahole), Kabini, Bhadra and BRT are all within a day's drive of Bengaluru, which makes them ideal for weekend safaris. Bandipur and Nagarhole are the best known; Bhadra and BRT are quieter. Kabini is the backwater side of Nagarhole, famed for elephants and for black panther sightings.

Start with our Bandipur safari guide and our 2-night Nagarhole trip from Bengaluru.

Central India

Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Pench, Panna and Satpura in Madhya Pradesh are among the best places in the country for tigers and other large wildlife. Panna and Satpura are quieter alternatives to Kanha and Bandhavgarh.

Ranthambore and Rajasthan

Ranthambore National Park is one of the best places in India to see tigers in daylight, with a fort and lakes as backdrop. Our 4-day Rajasthan wildlife tour pairs a Ranthambore safari with Jaipur's Amber Fort, City Palace and Hawa Mahal.

Gir and Kaziranga

Gir National Park in Gujarat is the only home of the wild Asiatic lion and anchors our West India expedition. Kaziranga in Assam, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to the one-horned rhino and is the highlight of our North East Grand Expedition.

Weekend safaris and multi-week expeditions

For a short break, choose a weekend safari to Bandipur or Nagarhole. For a longer journey, our grand expeditions link many reserves: the South India Grand Circuit, the North India Grand Tour, the West India Expedition, the North East Grand Expedition and the all-India Ultimate expedition.
